Saved! is a fun movie about religion, high school, and teen pregnancy. It doesn’t downright make fun of religion, but it makes fun of the idea of radical religion and hypocrisy. Jena Malone (a.k.a. the girl from Donnie Darko) is cute and relatable as she realizes her uncompromising faith and her relationship with her best friend aren’t all they’re cracked up to be.

Besides this being a relatively light fun movie, the bright spot is really Macaulay Culkin who plays a cripple in a wheelchair who starts dating the only Jewish girl at school. Culkin plays his handicap with a smooth confidence and brings the heart that his movie leans on. Even if you aren’t interested in seeing what happens when a religious young girl gets pregnant while attending a Christian private school, watch this movie for Macaulay.

This movie is clearly from the early 2000s.
